In this first session of the Traditions and Techniques workshop series, experts from Library and Archives Canada (LAC) share how they treat and protect books and documents as well as how you can apply these techniques to your treasures at home. Participants are provided with a step-by-step overview of the book conservation process, introducing the essential tools, materials, and techniques used by professional conservators to protect and restore books. The workshop features practical advice from our Head Conservator, Book Conservation, who will share expert tips on how to care for personal books and documents at home.

This session also explores the creative process behind zine-making, from what they are to how they’re made and how to preserve these unique, handmade publications.
